Revealing Lawsuit and Leather Character - Gemma Harrison

Hello friends and lovers!

It’s that time again, where we will be learning about Lawsuit and Leather’s main girl! The final piece of the love triangle in this slow burn love story series.

Let’s go!

In this love triangle, Gemma Rose Harrison finds herself in an unlikely situation of a failing styling business. With nowhere else to turn but her best friend, Parker Jones, Gemma moves in with him, which makes it harder to move on from her love for Parker. Could she ever love Parker as family, or is she going to learn how to get over him by finding another man?

Let me dispel this for you, Gemma doesn’t go looking for another man, instead she ends up meeting Hollywood bad boy, Alex Rivers, who happens to need a stylist for some upcoming events.

Will he be the man to break her spell from Parker? Or will it complicate her entire career path?

Here’s some tidbits about Gemma!

  • Aspiring Fashion Designer

  • New York native

  • Her favorite designer is, St. La Vie

  • Parker’s best friend since they were about 6 years old

  • Her favorite form of expression is fashion

  • Introvert, but not with those close to her

  • She especially loves bright bold colors, because it keeps her exterior light and happy

  • Pizza is her favorite food ever

  • Dislikes seafood and sea witches

  • Describe her in 6 adjectives: Determined, reluctant, quirky, imaginative, loves passionately, scared

Fun fact for you:

When I originally wrote Lawsuit and Leather, all the characters in the story had different names, except for Gemma. I’m not sure why, but Gemma I always pictured her the exact same, kind of a Zoey Deutch-esque character, who has fair skin, gorgeous brown/auburn hair, petite, quirky, and overall loves pizza way too much.

Why does Gemma like fashion?

There’s a lot more to Gemma than meets the eye. I’ll keep it brief without any type of spoilers to the storyline, because I am keeping tight lipped about that, I’ll mention one thing (Read blurb for as much info as I can provide over the story).

While Gemma has a hard time expressing her communication, she has turned to fashion from a young age to express how she feels. And even though she has a sunshine exterior with her outfits, nothing is as it seems with her.

And I’m not saying there is a miscommunication trope at all. Just like people in real life, sometimes we don’t know how to express ourselves with words and it takes learning through situations to truly understand how to communicate with others.

Is Lawsuit and Leather a standalone romance?

Short answer, No. There was so much depth to these characters and to complete their ARCs, it wasn’t sufficient to keep it as a standalone as originally planned. One of the aspects I wanted to focus on after Burning Little Secrets was character development.

While Burning Little Secrets is meant to be a fast paced read, a whirlwind romance, the shortness of it didn’t allow for a full depth character development.

That’s why Lawsuit and Leather has undergone so many storyline changes since I first started it back in 2020. It’s the most perfect it can be with it’s current storyline, but the reason for the length of time was due to character development, pacing it for a slow burn (and omg… the tension and angst in this slow burn is…. my favorite type of slow burn!).

I’ve realized I may enjoy character development a little too much, because Lawsuit and Leather was originally going to be my next standalone romance, but it’s now morphed into a three book series, possibly four.

With the way Lawsuit and Leather ended as a standalone, it felt unfair to call it a love triangle, because one character’s ARC was basically missing from it. After flushing out a complete outline of the story, I ended up with two total outlines, one for Lawsuit and Leather, and the second for book two. Little did I know once the entire outline for LL was written, the length was a staggering 160k words, which, personally seems like way too big of a book.

The best conclusion was to split LL into two, Thus, making it a three book series, but once I get to that “second” outline, I believe it’ll end up being split into two as well.

Basically, I’m going from a fast paced short read to a full length series with a slow burn storyline, but the angst and the filth is going to be a great combination of tension that’ll leave you wanting more.

Little tidbit here, Gemma and Parker have names for one another since childhood and seriously… it melts my heart!!

Below is an overall mood board of the story. Pinterest will be released in the upcoming weeks for the story countdown.
